The challenge
The journaling boom has created a massive gap between what people want and what's available. People's actual journaling needs are way more complex than that. The challenge was building something that felt deeply personal while keeping everything secure, which meant rethinking everything from how entries are organised to creating writing prompts that don't feel generic. We wanted to create an experience where personalisation didn't feel gimmicky, where people trusted us with their most private thoughts, and where the interface adapted to different writing styles without getting in the way

Approach to illustration
The brand's personality lived in a custom bird character system: different emotional states and archetypes that could express everything from celebration to contemplation. Working with the supplied illustration library, the challenge was establishing how these characters transformed mundane moments—turning a saved note into a small celebration, acknowledging when you're stuck, reflecting emotional states that matched the user's experience
